Dutch Settlement Elementary

Update to Families Sept 7

September 7, 2021

Families

WOW what a great day. I cannot thank you enough for your cooperation and supporting such a smooth transition back to school. It is great to see the students again and welcome to all new to Dutch students.

At this time I would like to share a few reminders:

Please use your daily Covid screening checklist before sending your student/s to school. The most up-to-date version can be found online at https://novascotia.ca/coronavirus/docs/Daily-COVID-checklist-en.pdf

Students need to stay home when they are ill.

If a child feels unwell or begins to exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, a parent or guardian will be contacted for pick-up. Our school will continue to follow directives from Public Health.

We will continue to emphasize hand washing, before & after eating and during the day.

If you need to pick up your student early, call the school and we will deliver the student to the Main door.

Please do not enter the driveway to drop students off or pick students up if there are busses on the school grounds. If the busses are in the driveway you may drop your student/s off at the entrance to the driveway and the student/s can safely walk up to the school on the sidewalk.

Breakfast program will start Thursday. Students will have items delivered to their classroom every morning. They will have a choice of 2 items such as muffins, yogurt tubes, cereal, cheese strings to name a few.

Milk program information will be sent home tomorrow. Order forms are due back September 15 and the program will start Monday, September 20.

Please clean masks using hot soapy water let it dry before wearing it again.

Stand up to bullying Thursday Sept 9 (wear pink day).

If possible, please bring in a water bottle.

Please ensure your student’s lunch is in containers they can manage independently to avoid unnecessary handling of items by others. Please provide your own utensils. Microwaves are unavailable for student use.

Information regarding Fall programs from the IWK Health Centre/Community Health Teams is posted on the schools website NEWS.
