School Opening Information update Sept 6

Families
School opening is almost here, I would like to share a few important reminders.
Student wellness and safety is our top priority.
Please complete the COVID daily checklist with your student/s. Link below.

Masks must be worn on the bus for all students pre-primary to grade 6.
When in school, pre-primary primary grade 1 and 2 do not have to wear masks. Grade 4 to 6 will wear masks when in common areas, hallways, and in the classroom (if 6 feet of social distancing cannot be achieved).
Grade 3 students in a 3/4 combined will follow grade 4-6 mask protocols.
Each student will receive 2 masks. It will be important to clean them before the next school day.
Supervision of students begins at 7:40 so we ask that students be dropped off between 7:40 to 7:55.
To help reduce congestion, we encourage parents/guardians of grade 3 to 6 students to remain off school property. Parents/guardians of pre-primary to grade 2 students will be allowed on the property but are asked to drop their child at the door.
As stated in the provincial back to school plan parents/guardians and non essential visitors are not permitted in the school.
If you need to pick up your student early, call the school and we will deliver the student to the Main door.
Buses have priority, please do not enter the driveway when buses are present.
Pre-primary students will meet staff near the playground equipment.
On the first day primary students will be coming in the back door to the gym, after that they will use the main door.

Grade 1 and grade 2 enter through the Main door. Grades 3 to 6 will enter through the Front door.
When students are dismissed for the day, Pre primary bus students will be first, Excel students will go to the gym, all other bus students will be dismissed by bus, when the buses have left the property all other students will be dismissed through the Main doors by class. The class closest to the main door will exit first, then the other classes will follow in order.
All teachers remain in their same classrooms as last year except Mrs. MacInnes who will be in the Library/Music room
New families to Dutch especially, would have liked a tour of their new school. To alleviate some anxiousness and to help ease the transition, please click the link below to get a virtual tour of the inside of the school and a peek into the student’s classrooms.

We ask for your patience as we navigate this new unprecedented school opening.
This information will be posted on the school’s website at https://dts.hrce.ca/
The staff and I are really excited about seeing the students Tuesday.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, at any time, if you have any questions.
Together we got this!
Sincerely
