School Opening Information update Sept 4

Dear Families:
The time has come and school starts Tuesday September 8. We can’t wait to see you.
As part of our preparation for the reopening of school, I am pleased to share the following  information:

Pre-Primary arrival:
Starting at 7:40 the pre-primary walking or drop off students will be directed to a location near the playground equipment where they will be met by the ECE staff.
Primary arrival:
Starting at 7:40 the primary walking or drop off students will be directed to the gym exit door where the parent/s or guardian will hand them over to the teacher.  Each primary student’s hands will get a squirt of sanitizer. The teachers will direct them to a specific area to be seated. Once the students are organized, the teachers will take their students to the classroom.
Grades 1 to 6 arrival:
Starting at 7:40 grade 1 and 2 will be directed to the Main doors. When they enter the building the will receive a squirt of sanitizer and then they will be directed to their classroom. Grade 3, 4, 5, and 6 walking or drop off students will be directed to the Front doors, which are the doors facing the roadway.  When they enter the building the will receive a squirt of sanitizer and then they will be directed to their classroom.
Bus Students:
When a bus arrives, the Pre-primary staff will be the first to go on the bus unbuckle their students and remove them from the bus and take them to the designated meeting place.
When a primary student get off the bus, a staff member will hand them off to another staff member who will take them to the gym exit door to be accepted by the primary teachers.
When grade 1 to six students get off the bus they will be directed by the staff member to the appropriate door. Grade 1 and 2 students will enter through the Main door and the grade 3, 4, 5, and 6 students will enter through the Front door. They will follow the same hand sanitizing and classroom directions as the other students.
There will be staff members helping out outside and inside the building as well.
Important things to note. Students are requested to only bring the following supplies the first day unless other wise directed by their teacher. Back pack, lunch, pencil case (with a few pencils and their colouring tools), indoor shoes, a water bottle and a folder. You child’s teacher will inform you when other supplies can come to school.
In order to minimize and reduce gatherings we strongly encourage grade 3 to 6 parents/guardians  refrain from being on the school grounds. Grade pre-primary to grade 2 parents/guardians will be permitted on the school grounds for those students who require support.
This information will also be posted on our website at: https://dts.hrce.ca/

I will share another update Monday.

Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Together we got this!

Sincerely,
Terry Barro
