Report Card Update Nov 2020

Hello Families,

Report card time is upon us and soon you will be receiving your child’s report card for first term.  There are a few things we want to make sure you are aware of. A report card is a snapshot of your child’s progress. There is a lot that happens in your child’s learning that doesn’t necessarily get captured in the report card comments.   Please feel free to communicate with your child’s teacher regularly if you have any questions. Our year began like no other.  With the pandemic affecting our in person learning last year, our students did not necessarily begin the year academically or socially where they would have normally been. This may or may not be true for your child. I want you to know that our teachers have been working hard with their students to help them move forward in their learning from where they began in September.  Our report cards will still have the same indicators as they did in previous years: Well Developed, Developing as Expected, Needs Development.  Because of this unprecedented year, you may see Needs Development on your child’s report card.  Remember, this is only a snap shot and does not mean that your child isn’t progressing.  It means that the teacher, the child, and you can continue to work together in adding to your child’s academic and social emotional knowledge.  It is important that we celebrate all successes and focus on the progress made.  Of course, if you have any questions or concerns our teachers are available to talk with you.

Thank you for the support you have shown our staff as they educate our students during this unprecedented time. As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. This information will be posted on the school’s website at https://dts.hrce.ca/

Regards,
