Dutch Settlement Elementary

Newsletters and Monthly Calendar

September 7, 2022

WOW what a great day. I cannot thank you enough for your cooperation and support with such a smooth transition back to school. It is great to see the students again and welcome to all the new to Dutch Settlement students.

At this time I would like to share a few reminders:

The province’s Back to School website – https://novascotia.ca/backtoschool – contains links to current guidance from Public Health as it relates to COVID-19

Our school will continue to follow directives from Public Health.

We will continue to make masks available in our school for those who choose to wear them.

Students need to stay home when they are ill.

If a child feels unwell or begins to exhibit COVID-19 symptoms, a parent or guardian will be contacted for pick-up.

We will continue to emphasize hand washing, before & after eating and during the day.

If you need to pick up your student early, call the school and we will deliver the student to the Main door.
Please do not enter the driveway to drop students off or pick up students if there are busses on the school grounds. If the busses are in the driveway, you may drop your student/s off at the entrance to the driveway and the student/s can safely walk up to the school on the sidewalk.

Breakfast program will start Monday, September 12.

Milk program information will be available through school cash online Monday, September 12.  The program will start on Monday, October 3. This is for Primary to Grade 6 students.

Canteen will begin Monday, September 12. Chocolate milk will be available October 3 on a first come first serve basis.

Stand up to bullying Thursday Sept 8 (wear pink day).

Please ensure your child’s lunch is in containers they can manage independently to avoid unnecessary handling of items by others. Please provide your own utensils. Microwaves are unavailable for student use.

IMPORTANT: If the afterschool routine changes for your student, please call the school (if you only let the teacher know they may not check their email or they maybe absent that day and cannot relay the message). If we do not hear from the parent, we will follow the typical afterschool routine. Pre-primary students will make contact with the P-P lead – Stacey.
